Elsa L. Clausen

Biography

Elsa L. Clausen is affiliated with Michael D. Herman, Esq. & Associates in an Of Counsel position. This affiliation began in 2015. She has 5 years of experience working in Labor & Employment law. Elsa most recently worked in the legal department of the Service Employees International Union in Washington, D.C. While there, she worked on cases arising under the Fair Labor Standards Act, the National Labor Relations Act and the Railway Labor Act. She also worked as legal counsel on a state-wide union election in California, and had the opportunity to work on the U.S. Senate’s immigration reform bill of 2013.

Elsa received a B.A. from the University of Maryland College Park, and a J.D. from the University of Maryland School of Law in Baltimore. While in law school, Elsa worked for 3 organizations doing wage and hour law on behalf of low wage workers, the majority of who were farm workers. Elsa participated in an international and comparative law clinic in Zacatecas, Mexico, where she worked on transnational workers’ rights and assisted with a multiple-plaintiff federal wage and hour litigation brought on behalf of guest workers from Mexico. Elsa also worked as a law clerk at the federal Immigration Court in Baltimore, Maryland and interned with the Pennsylvania Immigrant Resource Center, where she provided legal assistance to the detained immigrant population at York County Prison.

Elsa is a member of the Maryland Bar.
